Join us this Thursday, August 8, 2024, for a LUNCH (12:00-1:30pm) meeting at The Transept (1205 Elm St, 45202), for a program with Fox 19 Now Morning Anchor Julie O’Neill.
FOX19 Now morning anchor Julie O’Neill has enjoyed 30 plus years as a news anchor/reporter, chasing big interviews that include a president, a saint and everyday heroes.
There were the early experiences at WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, spilling coffee on former president Bill Clinton and getting Mother Teresa on the phone…when everyone said it couldn’t be done. Then came in-depth reports highlighting the needs and concerns of kids as the Child Watch reporter for WSVN-TV in Miami, Florida. Julie’s broadcast journalism career took her to Cincinnati in 1995, where she has spent most of her career leading serious investigations that have changed laws, exposed scams and otherwise righted wrongs.
Ironically, Julie had previously lived in the “Queen City,” studying musical theater at the University of Cincinnati’s prestigious College Conservatory of Music in 1988-89. Julie comes from a family of professional opera singers and her grandfather, a concert pianist, started the family business now run by her brother, selling pianos and musical instruments. Her first stint in television came at age 6, singing and playing the piano for the “O’Neill Family Christmas Show.” You may have caught Julie singing the Star-Spangled banner at a Reds game or any number of special events across the tristate.
Ultimately, Julie finished her education at Louisiana State University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Music. Ask her about her classes with Shaqille O’Neal! Julie’s long adventuresome career is chronicled in her recently published national bestselling memoir, “Bold: The Secret to My Big Wins to Help You Crash through Your Comfort Zone.” In it, she shares the tools she’s used for finding and growing boldness; tools she also shares as a highly sought after keynote speaker and leadership trainer. “There’s a lot of science now that explains what works in harnessing boldness as we grow confidence over the course of our lives and careers,” Julie says. “It starts with having clarity about who you are and what you believe. How that transfers to the way you see and hear people is everything. In this fast-paced world, you have to strive to be present with people, because everyone has a fascinating story if you take the time to get to know them. It helps that this comes naturally to me as I enjoy people. I have been very blessed.”
Julie is a proud mother of two and dog Blue. She enjoys Pilates, hiking, snow-skiing, scuba diving, and trips to the beach, but her ultimate happy place is anywhere she’s with family and friends having a nice glass of wine and appetizers.
