Hands-on Committee Service - District 6670 Day of Service

On Saturday, April 13, from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., we will partner with our District 6670 for a Day of Service on the Sleep in Heavenly Peace build a bed event. Two shifts will be available – 9:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 – 3:00 p.m.

Our District has teamed with a non-profit organization called Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) that provides beds for kids ages 3 to 17. Please visit https://shpbeds.org for more details about the SHP organization. There are over 400 children on the waiting list, so there is a great need. This is the second time we have teamed with three local SHP chapters. PDG Sigrid Solomon had a vision to do this during her DG year, but because of COVID, it did come to fruition until PDG Carol Hugh’s year as DG. That event saw 140+ Rotarians representing 14 clubs in our district build and furnish 110 beds.

This year eight clubs (West Chester/Liberty, Fairfield, Franklin-Carlisle, Hamilton, Mason-Deerfield, Middletown, Dayton and Springboro) have pooled their money and have received matching District Grants to raise $22,000. This will pay for 125 handmade bed frames and mattresses! This will not cover the bedding needs (pillows, sheets, & comforters).
