Join us on Thursday, December 12, 2024, for a LUNCH (12:00-1:30pm) meeting at The Transept, for a program with Project Heart ReStart.
Join us as the Rotary Club of Cincinnati and Project Heart ReStart donate the final 50 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to 25 Hamilton County police chiefs and celebrate the historic completion of Phase 2 of Project Heart ReStart, equipping 100% of the on-duty patrol vehicles which dispatch for cardiac events. Making Hamilton County one of the first AED-ready counties in the US.
Project Heart ReStart is a joint effort of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati, the Christ Hospital Health Network, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. In Hamilton County, the Committee has raised $460,000 and donated 230 AEDs. Police departments include: Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Amberley Village PD, Addyston PD, Blue Ash PD, Cheviot PD, Colerain Twp PD, Deer Park PD, Delhi Twp PD, Evendale PD, Fairfax PD, Forest Park PD, Glendale PD, Green Twp PD, Greenhills PD, Harrison PD, Madeira PD, Mariemont PD, Milford PD, Montgomery PD, Mt. Healthy PD, Newtown PD, North College Hill PD, Norwood PD, Reading PD, Sharonville PD, Springdale PD, Springfield Twp PD, St. Bernard PD, Terrace Park PD, Woodlawn PD, Wyoming PD, Xavier Univ PD.
Phase 2 donors include the Hamilton County Commissioners, members of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati, Cintas, The Gardner Foundation, Laurie Nipper Leonard, Zoll, Building Healthy Lives Foundation, The Blue Line Foundation and a number of individual donors.
The Phase 1 goal, initially launched by the Rotary Club of Cincinnati in the summer of 2023, was to purchase and install AEDs in every Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office vehicle. Donors to Phase I included The Hamilton County Commissioner, Christ Hospital Health Network, Mercy Health, TriHealth, UC Health, Cincinnati Children’s, Cintas, members of the Rotary Club of Cincinnati and community members. The initial campaign was kicked off with a $125,000 pledge by the Hamilton County Commissioners.
Having an AED for first responders on the scene of a cardiac event has the potential to increase survival rates from 10% to 40%.
On November 14, 2024 Phase 3 of Project Heart ReStart delivered 168 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), to 38 agencies across six Northern Kentucky counties: Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Pendleton, Grant and Gallatin. Project Heart ReStart has expanded into Northern Kentucky to equip law enforcement vehicles with these life-saving devices. St. Elizabeth Healthcare and members of Rotary Clubs of Cincinnati, Covington, Florence, Kenton County and Falmouth have raised money to purchase the units that will be delivered to the agencies on November 14. St. Elizabeth Healthcare made the initial $150,000 donation to purchase 76 units and additional funds will be raised by the St. Elizabeth Foundation community members and Rotary Clubs.
Across all three Phases, Project Heart ReStart has donated 398 AEDs to Greater Cincinnati law enforcement first responders.
