Join us on Thursday, September 25, 2025, for a LUNCH (12:00-1:30pm) meeting at The View (1071 Celestial St, 45202), for a program with Neville Pinto, President, University of Cincinnati.

Neville Pinto serves as the 30th president of the University of Cincinnati. A university teacher, researcher and administrator with 40 years of experience in higher education, he became UC’s chief executive in 2017. He is the first UC president since Herman Schneider (1929-32) to rise from its faculty ranks. During his tenure, the university has set enrollment records while reinventing its cooperative education program. UC also attracted a $100 million investment from JobsOhio to accelerate the number of STEM graduates, promote federal research and launch the Cincinnati Innovation District in Uptown.

Dr. Pinto was born in Mumbai, India. He was educated at the Campion School, Mumbai, and the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, where he earned his Bachelor’s in chemical engineering. He earned his MS and his PhD in chemical engineering at Penn State University and began his academic career at the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering in 1985. While at UC he taught hundreds of undergraduate and graduate engineering students over 26 years.

Pinto is an accomplished researcher and a National Academy of Inventors Fellow. His research laboratory focused on understanding the behavior of molecules at the fluidsolid interface, with applications in bioengineering and environmental engineering. His work was continuously funded through a combination of federal, state and industry grants, and supported the training of 32 graduate students, including 16 PhD students.

His time at UC included four years as Chemical Engineering department head, four years as assistant dean for graduate studies and five years as dean of the Graduate School. In 2011, he departed from UC to become dean of the Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville. At U of L, he rose to the positions of interim executive vice president and provost as well as acting president, before returning to the University of Cincinnati, where he is now the longest-serving president in more than two decades.
