Area Girl Scout troops have lost an average of $900/each in sales, which were to be used to support their goals and activities because they have been unable to complete their cookie campaigns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, is projecting a $1 million loss to their largest annual revenue source. This will impact the services they are able to provide to over 37,000 girls – things like financial aid for girls to attend camp, training for troop leaders, and valuable online resources for volunteers.
Our club members will coordinate the purchase of cookies from individual troops with Roni Luckenbill, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, and Suzanne Deyoung, founder and executive director of La Soupe. La Soupe rescues otherwise wasted food to create meals for food-insecure families. During this pandemic, La Soupe is making meals for Cincinnati Public School families who normally rely on the meals provided by school resources. La Soupe will repackage the donated cookies to go with the meals they are preparing for these families.
