Matt Renie, Executive Director, The Cincy Hat Foundation

Join us on Thursday, September 3, 2026, for a LUNCH (12:00-1:30pm) meeting at The View (1071 Celestial St, 45202), for a program with Matt Renie, Executive Director, The Cincy Hat Foundation.

Matt Renie is Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Cincy Hat Foundation, a Cincinnati-based nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities and greater independence for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Renie co-founded the Foundation with his longtime best friend, Cincinnati Bengals center Ted Karras, building on the remarkable success of The Cincy Hat project. What began as Karras giving hats to his Bengals teammates grew into a grassroots fundraising movement that has raised millions of dollars to support the IDD community.

The cause is deeply personal for Renie, whose older brother has an intellectual and developmental disability. Under Renie’s leadership, The Cincy Hat Foundation has expanded its work in Greater Cincinnati, funding full-ride scholarships through the University of Cincinnati’s Transition and Access Pathways (TAP) program and developing affordable, independent housing for adults with IDD. Its first Cincinnati housing development is a five-unit apartment building in Madisonville, with plans to expand housing opportunities throughout the region.
