Santa Ono, President, University of Cincinnati to Speak at Rotary January 21st

Santa J. Ono is in his fourth year as the president of the University of Cincinnati, which stands among the nation’s top 30 public research universities. Dr. Ono is − all in the same person − a scientist, cellist, thought leader, former research fellow and faculty member of Harvard and Johns Hopkins, an accomplished researcher in eye disease and a member of National Academy of Inventors as well as a CEO known for his social media presence. He created the hashtag “HottestCollegeinAmerica,” which has brought to UC greater community and greater recognition. Dr. Ono is a leader who is accessible and responsive to the university’s wide range of constituents, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and business, civic groups, the arts and government. Under his leadership, UC has achieved its largest enrollment in history at over 44,200, with three consecutive years of record enrollment. Looking to the future, he has launched Creating Our Third Century, a plan that is investing in the university’s greatest asset as it approaches its bicentennial – namely, faculty, students, staff and alumni.
