John F. Barrett is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western & Southern Financial Group, one of Cincinnati’s most prominent financial services organizations.

Barrett joined Western & Southern in 1987 as Chief Financial Officer, was named President in 1989, Chief Executive Officer in 1994 and Chairman in 2002. Under his leadership, Western & Southern has grown into a nationally recognized financial services organization offering life insurance, annuities, investment management, mutual funds, financial planning and retirement solutions.

Beyond his leadership at Western & Southern, Barrett has long been an influential advocate for Greater Cincinnati. He has played an active role in downtown Cincinnati’s revitalization and has supported numerous initiatives involving economic development, health care, education and the arts. His civic leadership includes efforts supporting cancer research and the pursuit of National Cancer Institute designation for Cincinnati-area cancer programs.

Barrett also serves on the board of directors of Cintas Corporation and has held leadership roles with numerous regional and national business organizations. In recognition of his decades of service to the region, he was named a Great Living Cincinnatian in 2024 and received the Key to the City of Cincinnati that same year.
